"Delightfully distinctive, bravely unclassifiable, sexy and vulnerable...
The Toronto Star

Jill Barber is an award-winning Canadian Singer/songwriter based in Halifax. Her music, influenced by jazz, folk and traditional country, combined with her distinctive voice and lyrics creates a sound that is matchless.

Barbers singing and song writing have earned her both East Coast Music and Canadian Folk Music Awards and in 2007 she travelled with Dan Hill as part of Stuart McLean.

Barber has been writing and performing music since high school. Her latest album For All Time is a long awaited follow up to 2004 EP Oh Heart. The album has the same smoky jazz quality but it has been refined. Barbers lyrics are sensitive and moving but so modest they keep us focused on her tremendous voice.

"My friend defined me a genre that I think is good and she calls me 'smokey-folkey." Barber says with a smile, "it's not really jazzy but there is something sort of smokey about it...whatever that means. It is romantic, it is folky but not straight-up folk."
